My Rotties first time meeting 3 week old Chicks.

My Male is 14 Months and my female is 5.5 Years old. She can care less if they are there. My male goes into the coop and eats the eggs.

That's a bad habit to break. I have had rescues that started doing that and I was never able to break them of it. I won't tollerate it because I let my hens go broody and don't want to find one of the dogs chomping on a chick embryo

Hi! How did you introduce your dogs to the chickens? I have a sweet female Rottie and would love to be able to trust her with my daughters pet chickens. Thanks!

I took them out when the adult chickens were out and stay with them and corrected them verbally when they started to get a little wild, I kept them calm the whole time, I would put them in a sit and make them watch the birds also.

As for the chicks I put the dog's in a sit and let the chicks out while I handled them and took them to the dog's who remained in a sit and let them smell them, I then then released the dog's from there sit and let them interact.

It comes down to training and the dog's temperament, My dog's are pretty well trained, if I just released them I prob would have had a yard full of feathers though.

WOW, that is awesome! You are very brave to allow them to meet. I know my Chicks would not have a chance around my high drive German Shepherds.

My Dog's are very High Drive it's all about training. Training never ends. My Male should start working on his Schutzhund titles soon.

darling photos!!

I have a rottie mix as well and I'm debating how or when I'm gonna let her meet my chicks. My cheeks are almost 4 weeks old and Rosie hasn't met them yet. She's listened to them, but not actually seen them
