My Royal Palm Turkeys

My Royal Palm Turkeys now laying as of yesterday and she is 7 an 1/2 mo old..first egg was fertile, I checked when cracked it open.. my Gobbler mates her everytime I go down to there pen so I try to stay away so she doesn't wear out..I have another female turkey to add to them RP too but I raised her from an egg and she is about 4 1/2 mo old now so haven't add her in, we did one time and Gracie the turkey that has just started laying yesterday did not like her in there so took her out and that was couple mo ago..

When should I try again??

You might want to try putting her in a pen adjacent to the other one so they can see and get use to each other. Then the transition may go smoother.

I don't know for sure, but congrats on your new "egg" . I would say anytime would be fine, but you may need to keep an eye on her. They will have to peck it out, but hopefully not too much. Maybe run her next door somehow, side by side? How old was the hen when she first started breeding? I have a Naragansette hen and she is not yet interested in my Tom. She still has pale wattles. I have no idea how old she is, but way younger than he is. I bought them as a pair a month ago.

When you add a new turkey the first thing that is going to happen is establishing the pecking order which means fights. Once that is settled they will be fine. If you keep removing the new hen to stop the fighting then you are just prolonging getting the pecking order settled.

Sofie the younger turkey we put in with the tom and other female yesterday afternoon and they seem to be getting along now somewhat..tom turk he has new female in there so he is happy..and the two females there is a little fighting but Sofie she is staying her distance..so no will not take her back out..this is it they will have to figure it out..got this far with them..thanks everyone..
