She is a chicken....seriously  Big ol scaredy cat! When I use to take the chicks out of the brooder one by one and put them outside in their "play pen" she would always freak out, become extremely vocal, and do anything she could to get away from me. Don't you think her name fits her so well?

Well tonight as usual she was the last one into the chicken coop. She normally will not come in if she knows I'm in there. Well I was wanting to get them locked up so I started bribing her with food and finally she came in but freaked as soon as I shut the pop door behind her. But then something weird happened. She walked closer to me and just stood staring at me, I'll be honest lol she was making me nervous! I thought she was going to attack me :P But I decided to hand feed her a bit more and she kept getting closer and closer and wouldn't go to the feeder, she just wanted to eat out of my hand. Then I picked her up and put her on the roost with everyone else but instead of staying with them she walked across the roost to stay right next to me. She was letting me pet her and I even caught her a few times looking like she was going to get onto my shoulder. I was so shocked! I stayed in there for quite awhile because I wanted to keep encouraging this new behavior. I'm so proud of her! :love

Just wanted to share

Thanks!

She did it again tonight. :weee She was the only one in the run when I walked around to lock them up and she ran around the inside of the coop right next to me and then came right into the coop after I got in it!

That is SO wonderful! She has always wanted to be your special girl, but was probably too immature to break through her timidness. The food and nice attention made her realize that she actually really wanted your special attention and treatment. Now you'll probably find your little sweetie will bloom, and fly up on your head, shoulder, back, head or arm, or anytime you have special treats, or she just "wants" you to be with you- she will probably need a new name like, Blossom. lol : )
