My serama roo keeps laying on side!

My roo lays on side and has a hard time getting up. His wings are stiff and you cannot pull them away from his body! Has anyone ever had this problem before? He does not look good. He eats but not well.

How old is he? Could he have eaten a toxin found in dead animals (botulism,) or could he have eaten moldy feed? Mareks disease, lead poisoning could be other possibilities. Even severe dehydration can cause neurological symptoms, so be sure and give him some water treated with vitamins and electrolytes, such as SaveAChick. Avian encephalomyelitis can be common in chicks under 1 month old.
