My Shelless Egg - Pictures

I don't know the definitive answer to that question, but it makes enough sense to me for me to give them shredded mozzarella cheese as treats every few days. It's one of the "eat out of my hands" treats.

Thank you so much everyone for the responses! I will go get some oyster shell stuff tomorrow from TSC. I'm glad that this happened sooner than later, because now I know what to do to remedy the problem before it gets really bad. I would hate for our babies to get sick and die!

Sure it does. However, what is important is to offer an always-available source of calcium carbonate so that each hen can take what she needs, when she needs it. Each hen has a different calcium need - depending upon so many things, including but not limited to what she's recently eaten and drunk, how many eggs she's been laying laying and how big they are, and how her own body is processing nutrients right now.

You can also save all of your egg shells, wash them then dry in the microwave or regular oven until crunchy then crush into small pieces (that don't look like eggs anymore ~ so they don't become egg eaters) then feed them back to the chickens as a free source of calcium.

I offer oyster shell to my chickens and I still occasionally get one of these eggs... I don't think it is too much to worry over but in your case you should definitly offer oyster shell.
