Karoo permaculture
Crowing
I love this, I have done some Show birds and tried a lot of the different "dual purpose" breeds. They were all high maintenance, require a lot of store bought feed and I had many that fell sick/perished.I will definitely be working towards a flock that is a very low maintenance utility breed rather then a bird that is correct to an SOP but high maintenance. If the breed I've chosen can't acclimatise to my block I'll probably start my own line.
With the mixes I have had, I havent had the need to medicate any of them.
