My little silkie chick is showing signs of red in its comb, can we check it off as a cockerel?
And also, I read pullets feather faster but roosters are bigger. I have a PR/RIR chick that feathered really fast but its comb already has reddish in it and its 4 weeks old!

Silkies are very difficult to sex at that age. Can you post a picture? That may help, but mostly you will be getting "guesses" because it is so hard to know for sure.

I know its hard to tell, but i was hoping you could give some insight because the chick is about 4 weeks old, and i wouldn't think that it would be red at this age. Ah well, Ya learn sumthin new every day! I'll post pics tommorow.

I am not expert but out of the 8 silkies I ordered 6 turned out to be roos and it wasn't until they crowed that I knew for sure. None of them were aggressive or mean so unless you're worried about the crowing I'm sure you'll enjoy them as much as we do. I'll try to dig up some pictures of them at different stages which might help.
