My silkie died last night, she has been acting weird lately and we installed a light in her coop, we thought that she was getting better, but I guess she wasn't. I never got to show her, she never got to lay an egg, I never bred her, she never got to have little babies, and she never got to take a bath. I have been very close with her and everybody in my family loves her, we used to bring her up to the house and watch T.V. with her. I can't stop crying, because she was everything to me, and now she's gone.
She looks like a beautiful PI silkie and I bet would have placed well. I am so sorry it is so hard to loose your favorites especially after so much time loving them. Judging by her age I would wonder if maybe she got Mareks, what were her symptoms? do you vaccinate, was she vaccinated, did she come from NY?
If you can any future chicks I would have vaccinated for Mareks just to be on the safe side.

Thanks, I bought her from a guy in NY who has hundreds of chickens. He was going to show her, but his daughter accidently died her blue and yellow, so he couldn't show her. I didn't vaccinate her, but I don't know if she was ever vaccinated she probably wasn't, My other chickens are though. Is marek's disease contagious to other birds?

I don't know what was wrong. A couple days ago she started acting weird, and just not normal. She seemed it was hard for her to walk, she was stumbling. Also it seemed that it hurt for us to pick her up.
So sorry to hear. I know just how you feel. I lost my favorite bird to a dog last summer. She was a great little silkie too. I know she's not replaceable, but if you have a bator, I'd be happy to send you a couple of eggs from my girls.....Best of luck,Chris
