I have 2 silkies, Stella and Evie. I have tried ALOT of methods to get Evie to not be terrified of me but nothing seems to work. She not only despises me, she is afraid of me too. It makes me REALLY sad because I have a connection with the rest of my girls. Does anyone have/know a solution for the stubborn ones? Thanks!

Well to get your chicken to like you I suggest holding it every day and give her treats like mealworms I have never heard of this problem so I might be wrong that is just what I would do.

How are you interacting with her? (Disclaimer - my chickens aren't pets, but I have picked up a few hints here on BYC for those who want them to be.) Do you chase her to try to catch her, or let her come to you? Do you try to grab her from above? How much time do you spend sitting quietly in the run or their free range area to get her used to your presence? It may work to sit out there and toss out an occasional treat. When she's used to coming to get those treats at a distance, don't toss them as far. Keep bringing her in closer that way. You may also just have to accept that fact that not all chickens are "pet" material. Some really just don't like human contact.

She might just be a snob, sorry to say that but it's a possibility. I've got a hen I've had over a year and she's just now coming around to eating food out of my fingers, and even then she acts like she's doing me a favor. So yeah, snobs come in chicken flavor too.:)

Thank you everyone! Bobbi-j, I will try your tips. I admit, I might not have been spending a lot of time with her..... He he. I will try treats other than scratch grains. Thank you!
