I'm excited, I ordered 18 silkie eggs online and they're finally going to get here on Wednesday. It's going to be so much fun seeing them hatch and seeing what colors I get, I hope they arrive safely.
I'm going to post updates about them here when they arrive, while they're incubating, and (hopefully)when they hatch.
I'll number them with pencil and candle them when they arrive to look for cracks and check their air cells, then give them a day to rest before putting them in the incubator. So if they arrive Wednesday, I should be able to start the 21-day countdown Thursday. I'm using a harris farms nurture right incubator, I got a pretty good hatch last time even though we lost power during lockdown. We got a generator all set up now, but hopefully, we won't need to use it this time.
This will be my second time incubating eggs and my first time working with shipped eggs or bantam sized eggs. Any advice is more than welcome!

Oh that's exciting I can't wait to see your little chicks , good luck with your hatch

Eggs were supposed to be sent out yesterday but went out today instead. No big deal, but my tracking says they won’t be here until Saturday and that’s... upsetting me quite a bit. They turned a 2 day delivery into a 4 day one, and that doesn’t seem like a lot, but I think waiting this extra time could really lower my hatch rate for these eggs.

Alright, we're back on track now. I was freaking out over nothing I think in my last post but now the much-anticipated delivery has arrived!
17 silkie eggs of various shapes and sizes are now resting point-down on my counter and tomorrow they'll be candled and start the incubation process.
I received a refund for the egg they didn't send, but they didn't want to delay the package another day in case there was a delay in postage.
A few eggs are odd-shaped, and one I believe has a large crack in the shell. I put nail-polish over the crack and will incubate it with the rest, fingers crossed it works out.
I took pictures of each of the eggs to show everyone here.

They've been in the incubator a day, the humidity has been up a bit higher then I'd normally want it but I heard that was alright for eggs with saddled air bubbles.

I really want a bunch of these to hatch and turn into cute little silkies, but so far they don't look very promising. The air cells are strangely shaped, a couple aren't even attached. The yolks may be scrambled and it just seems, in general, they may have had a rough trip to me. Some of the eggs are oddly shaped and of course, there's the one with a crack.

But I'll keep them in the incubator and hope for the best.
Any tips for improving my chances of hatching these guys?

Hi fellow silkie hatcher! I would hop on the June hatch a-long thread (based on when your eggs are suppose to hatch). Many helpful people and post your questions. I am currently incubating 15 silkie eggs, on day 15, 3 of the eggs had "saddles", and I also was not sure what to do. There are different opinions, some say they should be placed upright, others say just let them be, I am also very new to this, so I would hate to advise you incorrectly. Try the hatch-a-long thread, introduce yourself and what you are hatching. I am sure you will get good info there! Good luck! :)

Alright, thank you. I'll go check it out.

So, I said I'd keep this updated but kind of abandoned it in favor of the larger hatch-a-long forum. But I figured I'd post one last time to let you know how everything went.

The egg with the crack and 1 other egg developed blood rings.
Four of the eggs didn't develop at all.

As for the remaining 11 eggs....

Thanks for updating 👍
Your chicks are adorable 😍💕😍

I had 14 out of 16 silkie eggs hatch three weeks ago, I’ve also been primarily on the hatch along. We ended up selling eight of them and kept six. Among the ones we kept we ended up with a satin must’ve ended up in the batch somehow. She’s really beautiful though and lavender so we’re happy about that!😍
