My silkie has a crossed beak. We thought it would be ok.

Yesterday, I noticed the crop seemed enlarged. It is acting lethargic too! Before that it seemed to be eating ok and holding its own with the other banties. Also, it is dawdling it's head sometimes. Sometimes it did seem to act like it could not see very well to find its food. I do not have experience with silkies although I have raised other chickens. I do not know what to do about the enlarged crop and I have never known a chick to have a crossed beak. We are giving it grit mixed in the chicken feed. The chick is almost 4 months old. Is there anything I can do to help this chick?

Hi and welcome. I have a very cross beaked EE who is healthy at 4.5 months. I am not sure your bird's enlarged crop and crossed beak are related. I haven't any experience with enlarged crops but I recommend you search this site for impacted crop. Good luck.
