My silkie is broody but will not.lay on a egg

I have her a egg but she takes it under her but then I have noticed it can be cold.or not under her at all

I'm a little confused. If she's broody she will not lay an egg. It being cold it's something that can happen with new broodies. They dont realize that the egg is not viable. I would check it and if it's no good then toss it

Can you candle it? If it's cold my guess is it's no good. Better to throw it out now rather than wait for it to explode and be a disgusting mess.

Sounds like she's not really broody.
If she was truly broody she would be on that egg most the day and all night.
