We took our oldest silkie, Toffee, outside for her first big Excursion. She is 4 weeks older than the rest of the chicks and has her feathers so we thought it would be fun to see how she liked it. My 5-yr old daughter wouldn't let Toffee out of her sight. I guess even the Excursion Supervisor needs her lollipop!
She's such a pretty little chick. I'm saying "she" because we are hoping she's a girl. I just love her coloring! Toffee seemed to be having a hard time seeing and I'm thinking maybe she needs her bangs trimmed. Do chick moms do that? She finally started pecking and moving around a little but I think she missed her friends. They are only 5 weeks old and it was too cold to bring them out. It might be in the 60s on Thursday and if so, the entire flock will get a little Excursion!
My mother-in-law just shook her head and said "It's like she's your baby." Okay... I was taking pictures, petting her, encouraging her... and yes, she is my baby. Y'all understand, right?
