I'm pretty sure that this isn't what a Silver Laced Wyandotte is supposed to look like. I got them from Murdoch's, who I think gets their chicks from McMurray, or at least the pictures and descriptions look like theirs that they have posted on the chick tubs.
Anyway, here's a not great pic at about 5 weeks next to some Light Brahma chicks:

Looks like a bad Barred Rock at this point, while my Gold Laced birds look like I think they are supposed to. Any chance they will look more like they are supposed to as they age? Or are they just poor quality birds?

They dont look like barred anything, at least in those pics. There is still hope!

at 5 weeks old the one on the left is a cockeral if that comb is as red as it looks in the pic

Hatchery SLWs usually don't look like a SLW is supposed to.

Duly noted, maybe that's the excuse to find some more birds. Those girls are sweet though. They come when they're called, don't mind being held much, but they just don't look right.

I have five 2 week old SLW...am worrying I have roo's...suppose to be pullets. They are developing a wide area where the comb will be...one is quite red. One did not have the white lines down his back when my DH brought them home from the feed store so I was not even sure it was a SLW. I have 3 that have the reddish comb starting...is 2 weeks early?
