My situation

Hi Drumstick,

I guess that I didn't realize that we have people on this website that are very commercially involved. The idea of biosecurity did not occur to me. Thanks for the tip. If people are very concerned with such disease issues, why do they take their birds to open shows? I guess those are mainly small, non commercial, operations.

Good question, I have wondered that myself.

Glad you joined us. You really should consider raising a few yourself, they are fascinating and when you get to know a small flock they are full of surprises that you don't find in books.

HI Sunflower,

I am thinking about getting a few, just as pets, but I can't really raise them where I live. I am sure it is against the rules of the community and my neighbors would complain. Perhaps I could move at some point, or maybe somebody will divide up a nearby piece of land into small parcels of perhaps 100 X 100 feet and rent them to folks that would like to have some chickens but can't have them where they live.
They certainly sound like a very entertaining species, as well as friendly and sometimes loving.

HI Turkenstein,

Don't tell me. You bring roadkill turkeys back to life. It's Alive! It's Alive!! (LOL)
