I have a tom that is 1 1/2 yrs old. He's lost a good amount of weight and has lost some feathers. (breeding fool is what he is) Is there anything I can feed him to help him gain a lil bit....(they are now all eating starter grow/laying pellets bc I have mixed ages together) Or is this just normal to lose weight during the summer months?

During breeding months they tend to loose weight as they are more in to breeding then eating. Once they are done what I would do is put them all on a high protien feed 24-30% for a month or so and this will help them gain it back faster, if time is no importance then just feed them an all purpose feed 18-20%

Thanks Harp. I was worried about him...I bought a bag of Sportsmans choice this afternoon. Hopefully this will help him out a lil bit. How long is the breeding season?

The tom's here don't loose much weight, it's the hens that loose weight as they are sitting on the nest. Our toms do pretty much the same thing year young, strut and display and be toms.
