She wants nothing to do with anyone, or being handled, anyway to break that or just leave her alone?

How old is she? My daughter's normally sweet RIR was very grumpy for about a week before she laid her first egg. She actually bit me quite a few times. Now that she's been laying for a few weeks, she's back to her normal sweet self.

could just be her personality

some of my chickens fall asleep on my lap and others jump off and run like i am goin to kill them. lol

Try hand feeding - that usually warms them up to you! At first, you may just sit in the run, and sprinkle some treats such as BOSS around you, so they come up & peck and find the treats. Then, next time, put the BOSS a bit closer to you. THen, bring them in your hand, and extend out to them. once they begin eating from your hand, they will be running up to you when you go to the run! I had one that would fly up to my arm when I'd go in, so she could run down my arm and be the first one when I would open my hand!

I have an EE hen that has always been a sweetheart until she started to molt. She became the EE from hell. She was attacking all the others and wouldn't let me touch her. Now that she has started laying eggs she is back to being a sweetheart to me at least. She refused to allow the young pullets I have had in cages in HER coop. She goes in for the kill and I have to pull her off them. So in a cage she went along with her hubby. She is in jail right now.

I have a SLW who is pretty much a BEE-HIND! Actually, she isn't mean, she just is not cuddly in the least. She does not like to be picked up, so I rarely do it. I had to pick her up this evening to dust her and was really surprised about how much she weighed. I really just try to leave her alone unless I have to pick her up. She didn't bite or scratch me, but she cried and pretended her legs were still running the whole time. I have GLW and she isn't really friendly either. Maybe it's Wyandottes.

I had an SLW that I got because I thought that they were cool-looking. She seemed like a big bully, always picking on the GLW that I got with her, so I gave her back. By the time I had her a few days, I though she was evil-looking. In retrospect, I had little patience with pecking-order issues, and they were about to lay (chaotic time for chickens). But I still think they can be bullies--the GLW is kind of a butthead and not so sharp, but I'm used to her now.

Kind of sounds like mine is like the rest, moody and likes to be left alone. This is fine,I was just surprised since the behavior description is calm, and easygoing. She is still the best looking bird in the bunch.

Hello I am definatly no expert but both my SLW's are kind of aloof, they are not nasty but just as you say grumpy-that is a good way to put it! They have never liked to be held or touched despite being handled from day one by an 11 and 2 year old. They just have a way about them, they are both hens and are 19 weeks this Thursday.
