My SLW died...

Quote:
I've been watching them very carefully. Everyone is active and appears healthy. They're going to have eyes on them all week. My neighbor is going to help with keeping an eye on them, too. One of the other wyandottes was behaving a little suspiciously. She was in the coop just hanging out, which is what Tejas did 2 months before she died. Of course, she could have just been getting out of the heat or she could have been waiting to lay.

This is really bad timing. There's a very good chance I'm going to have to put my cat of 19 years down within the next two weeks. My horse kicked me in the head last Sunday on accident and I still have a headache (not to mention he was super hyper today. We were cantering in a circle and I swear it felt more like he was just spinning in the air). I'm getting glasses because apparently I'm -.5 near sighted (perfect vision 6 months ago). My father turned 51 yesterday and I've been stressed all week helping make the cake and setting the party up. Not to mention not being able to get his gifts until day of due to a variety of reasons. My car needs to be inspected and I don't have the time. And now one of my girls has just off and died for no known reason. It's all just very... tiresome.

Ok, rant over.

Thanks for reading.

Maggie,

I'm sorry to hear about your hen. It seems you are having a rough time of it. The hen, your horse, etc. Take time to relax for yourself and do something you enjoy. I hope things start to get brighter.

MaggieRae, that is far too much for one person to deal with in a single week. I hope the people around you are supportive because you could use the help. I put my cat of 18 years down two weeks ago. I'm still sad about it. Losing your cat alone is enough heartache for months. Hang in there. I'm sure your dad will love whatever you make for the cake. Good luck.

Tejas was really beautiful. I'm so sorry you lost her. I would be devestated too. Be good to yourself this week. You need to take a break with a head injury like that. My kids had three pet toads in the window well and Elvis was accidentally squished in the window. They found him today and we had a burial. My kids are 6 and 4. They cried their eyes out. I consider it to be a testimony to their characters that they loved a little toad like that. It is because you are a good person that you care so much for your chicken. I'm sure Tejas had a good life with you!

So sorry to hear about your pretty girl....I lost my Ellie "black cochin" during a heat advisory on th
4th of July.....and was heart broken, my husband was really shocked when he saw how upset
I was. Then a dear friend, a salty old cowboy came into our store that tues and started the old.
Wheres that big black fat butted chicken hiding????? one of the girls told him and he looked at
me and gave me the old "geez thats ashame, no wings or chicken nuggets???? of course I was crying
then he said " u cuda saved me a feather for my hat!!!" next thing i know i was criying and laughing
at the same time...and i knew he didn't mean a thing, he was just trying in his own way to make
me feal better and let me know he cared.. Old farts do things in the strangest way.. Hope this made
you smile.

So sorry to hear about you beloved pet.My baby died last week and my MIL asked if we ate her... First of all you don't eat sick/dead birds!

I think people feel ackward at such a times and end up saying the wrong thing. It's really better just to say "I'm sorry." That doesn't offend anyone. Tejas was really beautiful. I'm sorry you're having such a bad time. Maybe you should see a doctor, you may have a concusion, or damage to your eyesight. Please take care of yourself.

Ohhhh "sighs" just take a couple of days have your nabour of hubby (if your marryed) feed them lay down, and sleep, cook a cup cake jab a candle in the middle JK

So sorry about all of y'alls birds. I bought some Apple Cider Vinegar (with the 'mother') today because I've read that it's good for the birds. I've also read that you can give them electrolytes? I give my horses electrolytes. Are those the same thing? Or are there special chicken electrolytes?

Thanks all.
I still miss her. She was one of my best lap chickens.
