My so called silkie does have 4 toes

Unless someone cut a toe off they should have 4.

Check in the back of the foot....I bet your girl has 5, huh.

Well I have gone back and looked and I think I wasn't counting a toe on her... because I didn't think it was a toe! So yes I do think I have a silkie.... and I don't care if she is pet quality!

Oh, all of my chickens are pet quality and I wouldn't trade a one of them!!!! As far as I am concerned, they are perfect!!!

Me too! ALL of my chicks are pet quality and I wouldn't trade them for "Show" quality not in a second... I love my chicks!

I am trying to breed nice silkies- but I have had 1 with 6 toes hatch (and a single comb) this year and one with a slightly crossed beak. Of course both have some excellent other features-- the 6 toed boy has the best foot feathering I have "produced" so far and the little hen has a terrific poof and t ype-- grrrrr. The beak issue didn't even show up until around 3 months.It is very slight- she can eat- but she is out of the program- and I have at least one breeder hen that I think I will remove.But msot of the babies have been good. ANd I am working at making them better.
