My young son loves chickens. He is going to start AG/FFA this coming year. He has 6 comum breeds, good egg layers
Last 6 months he asked if we could try rare breeds.
So, we got 14 ayam cemani’s eggs to incubate.

On day 20, 6 hatched.
On day 21 7 hatched
Today is day 22, 1 egg there, not sure if it will hatch.

But 13 out of 14 is I unbelievable!

We got 4 that seem to be completely black. The others show small imperfections with white feathers at the wing tip, and or pink toes.

We will need to cull, obviously.

With 13 chicks if all goes right, we will need to sell some, to be able to move on. They are 1-2 days old today.

Tips?

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
That is an impressive hatch rate. As others have mentioned, wait until fully feathered to cull. I would place an ad in Craigslist for your culls. Lots of people would love to have them as eye candy additions to their flocks and wouldn't care if they are not perfect. If you were close to me, I'd be one of them!
