My space saver coop design

Salmon faverolles are a very layed back breed, sweet and come in regular size and bantam. They are endangered and a great dual purpose breed for eggs and meat.

Thank you so much to everyone for the great feedback! I have some ideas to improve the design and will be posting new sketches in this thread early this week. I really appreciate all the feedback. This will be the first coop I have ever built myself.

All container plants will need drainage..or they would drown/root rot, in stagnant water..keeping that in mind you may come up with an idea:)

If I could plant them in the ground to allow for proper drainage I would in a heartbeat! Sadly, my "garden" does not allow for me to do this since it's basically a large cement/grass patio! However, I am able keep a pretty healthy spice garden in the summers by planting various herbs in mason jars. The trick is to place a layer of rocks in the bottom 1/3rd of the jar before adding potting soil. The excess water drains into the rocks and then is reabsorbed by the plant when needed. I do take careful precautions as to not over-water the herbs, however, since they do tend to root rot easily.

Our fruit trees are planted in the same way on a larger scale. They are in large metal planters that have bottom lips to allow for excess water evaporation when it rains in the winter. We've also grown peppers in rubbermaid tubs using a similar technique. You gotta get crafty when you don't have the land! :/

We were planning on building a large sandbox (or dirt box, rather) to place the coop in. I will research additional options!

Thank you guys so much, again!
