deff a step up. I think you will be happy with the babies.
We have splash in all our breeds and we breed to blues, it keeps the splashing from fading. I think the cockerel is on the whiter/lighter splash side(could be the photo, could change after molt). The chicks might wash out, might not.
Again that is just what I would think if I was going to put them together.
Also, this is just me...but
when I see a splash place at a show it seems like the judge likes overall patterning, kinda like they pick mottles that are evenly distributed?
So I try and pick for that if we are showing a splash.
You are going in the right direction and I know you know you certainly will have fun and learn from entering them.
I think they do will well.
