They have been in the same pen for several months now and have been just fine. My standard roo has been crowing for about one month. My banty roo just started crowing two days ago, it sound pitiful actually! Very cute. Today I walked outside (the pen extends off my back porch) and heard a chicken screaming. It was my standard roo attacking my banty! he just wouldn't let up and no matter how much he ran he couldn't get away and never could get to fly up on the roosts. I had to intervene and stop him, when I got in the pen he stopped. My banty was huddled in the corner with his head stuck under his body trying to protect himself. When I first picked him up he didn't respond right away I was afraid he was dead! He snapped out of it as I held him but his comb and ears where bleeding but not badly. Although the end of his comb was yellow. I am not sure what that meant but it turned back to red after a while. I took my standard roo and put him in the coop and let my banty back in the pen. You see my banty is my favorite I am not fond of my other rooster. I still have them separated and I am not sure what to do! Should I find a home for the standard roo?
