I couldn't pass up the bright blue sky, sunshine and mild 40 degree temps...so I decided to let the girls out to free range for a couple hours. Of course I just had to take pics of them enjoying the grass and freedom!

Heres one with our blue sky...Robyn is our special needs chicken, she doesn't see too well, so she sits up on this deck and waits for treats.

I will have to let the bantam group out to free range next time and get pics of them. I figured if I let them all out together, it would take forever getting the chickens sorted back out.

Thanks for looking!!!

We haven't seen much snow yet. A few dustings that didn't last long. Our yucky weather usually hits us in February. I will be happy if we don't get any. Not sure how the netting over my runs will hold up...this is my first winter with chickens.

Beautiful birds, especially liked Fiona! Is she really flighty like most leghorns seem to be?

Thank you! Its been a challenge putting together a nice varied flock.

Only til you catch her lol. If you get close enough, like at treat time, and make a jerky movement, she does the typical hen squat and is easy to pick up. When you are holding her she is a sweetie. But her prettiness makes up for her lack of friendliness. She is just coming out of molting, so she doesn't look nearly her best.

Beautiful flock! I am VERY jealous of you green grass and blue sky. Our ground and sky match, kind of a dull gray/white!

Well I guess I should have panned out and gotten a pic with the pretty sky in there somewhere. Oh well.

Ugh, I am dreading that dull gray, we get that in Feb. We are surrounded by woods, so there is a lot of blah brown which I don't like either. I am glad for the semi green grass we still have.
