My teens are driving me insane! (rant)

13 & 16, have cell phones for the express purpose of being in touch with ME. But will they answer? NO!
And the oldest was getting ready to get into trouble. And I got attitude when I tried to nip the mischeif in the bud.

I have to work, and don't have any local family that can help me out.

I'm ready to quit my job and stay home with them this summer. Sell the cell phones to help make ends meet. Maybe their rooms would actually be clean, too.

Sorry, had to vent. I've been climbing the walls all day. I only call them once a day, you'd think they could bother to answer.

I'm soooo ready to storm down on them both....

I don't ask a lot from them.
Their step father thinks they act like arrogant hotel guests and not my children.
But KNOWING one was planning trouble and then not being able to reach them just chaps my fanny bigtime.

You sound EXACTLY like my mom. My little sister and I are the same way as your kids. We have cell phones but they arent charged half the time. My mom threatens to take mine away, but now that Im about to get a car she cant use that excuse because i need one when im out driving

Its not so much the "all about me" though, as you put it. I just honestly forget half the time to charge it. We live in the boondocks so i dont get good service out here and its not like I have too many friends to call me.

Its "all about me" though for my little sister, she just became a teen and thinks she can say, do, or act how ever she wants. I would love to put her in her place!

That's why I'm so upset.
And it's storming in our area and my chicks are outside and I don't know that the kids are even home to bring them IN! Which is one of their very few chores, helping me with the babies.​

Probably should do the former, regardless. If they arent paying their own cell phone bill, they shouldn't have one.

The cell phones were purely for my convenience, and since they aren't answering and my chicks are probably drowning, I'll be getting them back.

If I'm home 24/7 then they WILL have clean rooms in order to keep me out of there. Or they will be by my side as we clean them. They hate that...
