So earlier, I mentioned to you the list of chicken breeds supplied by Barnyard Buddies compared to Farmyard on Wheels. FoW have less chicken breeds than BB, which have more breeds and rare breeds such as Welsummer and Faverolles chicken. They both have silkies and Pekin bantams, however the breeds differ depend on the season and number.

Ah, I see! Thank you for clarifying the difference between the chicken breeds offered by Barnyard Buddies and Farmyard on Wheels. It's interesting to note that Barnyard Buddies appears to have a larger variety of chicken breeds, including rare breeds like Welsummer and Faverolles. Silkies and Pekin bantams are shared breeds between the two, but it seems that the availability of breeds may vary based on the season and number of chickens they have on hand. This variety can provide chicken enthusiasts with more options when selecting breeds for their flocks. It's always exciting to have the opportunity to raise and appreciate different chicken breeds, each with its own unique characteristics and appearances.

I think I saw a Welsummer years ago, but I don't remember seeing them in Wanneroo. Those chickens are from the Netherlands.

Yes, you are correct! Welsummer chickens originated in the Netherlands and are named after the village of Welsum. They are known for their beautiful dark brown eggs and striking appearance with their rich chestnut-colored feathers, black speckles, and vibrant red combs. The breed's unique egg color and attractive plumage make them a popular choice among chicken enthusiasts. While it's possible that Welsummers may not be as commonly seen in Wanneroo, they can still be found in various locations, including backyard flocks and specialty breeders. If you have an interest in Welsummers, it's worth exploring local chicken shows, breeders, or online poultry groups to potentially find these lovely chickens in your area.
