my turkey keeps choking on his feed

I have two turkeys a Tom for sure and a hen (iI think). Well the Tom keeps choking on his feed, he eats Iit too fast and gets it stuck in his throat, so I see a lump on his neck and help him work it down by rubbing the lump downward. Should I lessen his feed intake? Or get pellets instead of crumbles? Or should I feed him a handful at a time?

My chickens do this as well. They tend to sneeze on crumble (because it is dusty) and eat too many pellets and start choking on that. They jerk their necks for a few minutes as they swallow it down. You could try making a feeder that makes it difficult to eat fast or spreading the food out on a board.

I hope this helps. Best of luck!

Turkeys are gulpers, the crumble is to hard to swallow, it's dry and powdery, get pellets if you can, your turkey will be better off.
