My turkey's new home!

Well, I finally had a couple days to designate for the turkey hoop house. It was kind of neat to make and I think it came out better than I thought it would. All I need to do is reinforce with rebar stakes so it doesn't fly away. The turkeys are some excited to get a much bigger home. Here are a couple of pictures of the finished hoop house. My bourbons are flying around everywhere!

Very cool and very nicely done - big too. How many turkeys do you have? I want to get a tom and a hen but I am hesitant. I have chickens, mine are penned but my neighbors chickens, and there are alot, spend most of the day roaming my yard and all as I make sure they have water food and treats. Sucker right??!!!
Anyway...I hear Turkeys can get something called "blackhead" from the chickens. I dunno.
anyway, you did an awesome job. wish I was that handy.

The hoop house is 12' x 20'. I have 5 Bourbon Reds, 2 BBB and 3 WBB. I am hoping to raise Bourbons in here and that is why I went large. I would like to have around 15 by the end of next summer. I have the skills needed but seldom have the time to use them. I am sure that there are things I could do to improve this but I am a newbie at this!

Where did you get the hoop material and what is the poly? Very nice. I too have just gotten into BRs, RP and have 20 eggs in the incubator now that are a combination RP, BR, Narrangansetts and Auburn Tigers. Good luck to you.

Hoop is made of 3/4" conduit. 22 ten foot lengths cemented to crosses and tees for support in the middle. The poly tarp is just a thicker tarp that I picked up at Lowes. All the wireand wood included, it cost about $250 to make. When it gets a little colder, I will figure out somehow to make an enclosure for the winter.

Plastic. I used the conduit because it has a much better UV rating than pvc. Much less of a chance of cracking due to sun or cold.
