I got my two last March and gave them plenty of attention and love. But for some reason once they got a little older they do not like being touched. They run from us. They will approach when feeding and even eat out of my hand. Another question about them. My female started laying in the fall and laid all winter. Now that it is Spring no eggs at all. Is that normal?

She'll begin to lay soon I suspect, unless she is hiding them from you. very typical of mine.

as far as friendly getting them to eat out of your hand is a big bonus, not many ducks enjoy being picked up, I have 13 and only one likes to be picked up and snuggled and he was raised as an only duckling[mama didn't want him] and petting I don't evn try. I just enjoy having them around me when I am outside with them, they love to help with the gardening, if i get out the shovel they all stand around waitng for that big juicy worm to pop up. lol Try not to take it personally, it's typical behavior of ducks.

IT IS NATURAL FOR PEKINS(ducks) NOT TO WANT TO BE PICKED UP, BUT WE JUST SCOOP OURS UP & THEY LOVE THE SNUGGLE & ATTENTION. SOMETIMES IT TAKES BOTH ME & MY SON TO SCOOP ONE, BECAUSE THE BOYS ARE GREAT AT "DUCKING" WHENEVER WE GO TO GRAB THEM, AND THEY LOVE THE PLAY OF RUNNING AWAY & COME BACK WITH A "CHARGE" AT US SOMETIMES. OUR GIRLS ARE THE SAME ABOUT DUCKING US, BUT THEY DON'T PLAY CHASE. PLEASE TRY THIS BECAUSE IF NOT YOU & YOUR DUCKS ARE MISSING OUT!!
LET US KNOW HOW IT GOES!!!!

Thanks, that helps a lot. I did not know what I was doing wrong or if something was wrong with them. They are as I say my little yard clowns. They like to try to intimidate my chickens and it is quite funny. They mean business with them though. They are in a fenced back yard so I don't think they are hiding eggs, but hopefully they will lay soon. Thanks a ton.

Thanks, for your help. Yeah we do sometimes scoop them up, just cause they are so darn cute. But they don't like it to much. But at least they follow me and approach for food. They are fun. Thanks again.
