Laid and hatched by my Silkie Snowball. Actually 2 had hatched when I went out there today & I don’t know which was first. But this one was peeking its head out.

This is just as exciting as my first egg! I put 5 eggs under Snowball after she started setting on 3 if her own. Wonder how many more will have hatched by tonite?

Update: Last nite the mom & 2 chickies were fine & Locked in the coop.

This AM momma was still on the nest. The 2 chicks from yesterday were gone completely. 2 more had hatched out — different colors. One was dead- still curled up; one alive & healthy.

What happened to yesterday chicks?? And how do I protect the other broody I have when hers start hatching?

What the?! How do they just disappear? Did they wander off through the cracks?

The row of nest boxes is about 15” off the floor of the coop. Solid wooden floor. Have no clue what happened. No chicks but the 1 from today. Moved hen, chick, n last 3 eggs inside to tote. She’s still sitting n today was “official” hatch day.

Oh no! I am so sorry! :hitI have no idea where they went, I guess the answer to that would determine how to protect the others.
