My wife thinks I'm crazy

Hi and

from Ohio. So glad to have you aboard. Congrats and have fun. Those cornish rocks will be ready to butcher anywhere between 8-10 weeks.

Yes, they are HUGE. I butchered one of the roosters last week, but I didn't get the scald right and had a very hard time plucking him. I decided to wait on the other four until I get my Whizbang chicken plucker built. Even though they are 12 weeks old and really big, they are not having any leg or joint problems. The are allowed out in the yard every day and they do run around some, but I've started feeding them away from the pen so they have to exercise some if they want to eat.

Anybody here with experience building a whizbang plucker?

from Kentucky! I to bought a few chickens this past spring from the same chain store. 6 Red Sex-Links, 4 Buff Orpington, 6 Bantams. Two of my bantams died. I later sold four of the red sex-links locally. Chicken math is terrible. We promised ourselves we'd only keep twelve total. LOL well, now look at my signature. Most of our flock now comes from breeders and we will be breeding chicks soon! Have fun in your new adventure!
