Yes we are! We're looking to amend the current zoning code, specifically the accessory use sections of residential zoning classifications, to permit traditional homesteading that allows the raising of poultry, other fowl like quail or ducks and small animals such as rabbits for personal use. We're starting on suggestions for the board to review such as the animal types/quantity per parcel size and possibly a small permitting fee. Still in the early stages though.

Just one of the many reasons I left Florida nearly 40 years ago and moved to Arkansas. The last house I built there in Port Charlotte in 1970 had 32 pages of restrictions!! Not too mention the nosey butts who cruised the neighborhood looking for things to call the zoning board about.....they complained about my next door neighbor who had 6 tomato plants in his BACKyard. Well, that wasn't one of the restrictions for a wonder. Good luck to all who are engaging in the zoning wars
