Hello to all in the BackYardChicken Forum!
I just ordered my first chickens from: http://www.mypetchicken.com/default.aspx
Has anyone else used this company?
These will be the first chickens I've owned since I was a teenager (30+ yrs ago). I was going to wait till I retired, but gosh darn it you can't put life on hold for retirement!
I ordered 6 chicks: Black Giant Jersey, Blue Cochin, Lite Brahma, Easter Egger, Golden Polish, Sussex. Arriving April 13 or 14! Seems so, so far away
....
I bought a Coop Kit by Lancaster County that just arrived this week!
My sweet husband has agreed to assemble the coop, build a 3 x 14 foot fully enclosed run, and fence an area of the yard off for free ranging. We are both very excited!
This forum has helped me a lot. Now I have joined my first forum!
My current cridder family consists of an 8yr old male German shepherd (Dasher), a 6yr old male black Standard Poodle (Donner), 2 cats (Jester and Gypsy) and a bunny (named Millie which is short for "454,000 milligrams" because that equals 1lb and I got her at "the pound").
My dogs have never been with chickens, but they are highly trained, and they will only be near the chicken yard with supervision. They are both sweet to the bunny and cats.
Well that's all I have to say about myself for now
Look forward to chatting with you all!
