Very sad day in our household. Sometime between 8 am and now 3 of my 4 chickens have died. I looked out in the back yard and they were laying around the pen dead. I see no signs of predation. If it was a predator I wouldn't really have expected all 3 to be dead and not eaten. And the 4th one is fine- but she rarely stays in the pen. She sneaks out and eats from the yard all day. About 3 days ago my husband had the pest guy come and spray all around the house. We've had massive amounts of rainfall recently, and all the water runs into the pen. This is my only guess as to what happened. Has anyone had anything like this happen?? Any other guesses? I've been crying my eyes out. I am just hoping Whitey (our 4th) is going to be ok. I've put her in the basement in a dog house for now to keep her from whatever did this. I have no idea what else to do with her or how long I need to protect her. In the 3 years that we've had the chickens I have never had a problem with anything! I'm devasted. Any thoughts might help. Thank you.
