Mysterious leg injury... do I wait it out?

Glad to hear that she is doing better.

We picked up a young roo yesturday who injured his leg the day before. He is putting weight on the injured foot but gimping around some. I have him also in a dog crate seperated as he is quite a bit younger than our hens.
I am going to be heading into the store for some vitamin B and hope that helps.

So really little field trips outside the kennel aren't advised to keep them sane???? I know I would be going crazy if I was locked up, but these are my first chickens so any advice is appreciated.

A little chick that hatched yesterday (in our incubator) has one leg that goes backward instead of forward. I can move it into place with no trouble, but it doesn't stay. Is there anything I can or should do about this? We've never had this problem before.
Thanks for any advice!

This is excellent news. I've dealt with this problem quite a few times. Only once did a hen fail to eventually walk on two legs that was in my care. She recovered to the point where all she able to do was hobble around on one leg. After a month in confinement, she wanted out of that cage and I was happy to let her lol. I couldnt reintroduce her back to the flock because the others would have beat her up and with only one leg, she was at a disadvantage. In the mornings I let her out into a second pen and she was as happy as she could be all by herself all day long. Just before dark, she would hobble over to the gate waiting for me to pick her up and put her in her cage for the night. She laid an egg just about every day too. She certainly was able to adapt with the use of only one leg. ETA: Congrats on your 250th post!
