I have a friend that found this little treat in her backyard. None of her neighbors raise chickens, so she is not sure where it came from. Since I currently have chickens, she brought her to me. I have had some people tell me it looks like a turkey...some say it is a chicken. Anyone have any ideas?

does your friend have wild turkeys around her neighborhood? Looks like it could be a wild turkey baby to me... and if it was found in your friends back yard with no chickens around the area I say it's definitely a possibility. :) We have a lot of wild turkeys around our area and that looks a lot like their babies with the exception of a more yellow head.

Where do you live? Are there wild turkeys around there? It diffidently looks like a turkey to me, so you should probably start doing some research on how to care for a turkey. If you put it back in the wild, it will most likely get eaten. Yours has the same type of wing that turkey babies have. Do you know how big it is? They tend to be larger than chicks. For right now, just care for it like you would a chicken. But yes, it looks very much like a turkey. Any other questions? I would be happy to help!
These are what baby turkeys look like...

Look online at types of baby birds. Is there a lake or any source of water around the area? Could it be a swan? or goose? or turkey? My advice would be to check out pictures online and keep an eye out for different birds. It could also be a heron.

I'm thinking turkey. If it's already that big and still has fuzzy down, I don't think it'd be a chicken. Definitely not waterfowl. Don't think it's a heron either, those look like baby pterodactyls. lol.

So yeah, either a turkey or a really big chicken.
