Hi! I have a week and a half old chick. The woman we bought it from said it was a buff Orpington, but as it’s feathering out, that doesn’t seem to be the case! It has some black and tan feathers as well as yellow. Curious, we contacted the seller and she said that it could be a barred rock or even a black sex link, as she has those breeds. I don’t think so. She also has Ameraucanas. I’m wondering if it’s a crossbreed? Or do Orpington chicks just look like that sometimes? Let me know what you think.View attachment 2105730View attachment 2105733
Also, what do you think of gender? I’m thinking it might be a cockerel: the wings are coming in significantly slower than the rest of the chicks, and no tail feathers yet.
Thanks!
