This mystery chick arrived instead of a blue cochin (not an add to the shipment kind of thing). 13 days old. Bare legged and looks like a pompom on top. Any and all guesses are welcome

Based on the zip code on the shipping box they were dropped shipped from Texas Austin airport. Guessing from Ideal Poultry and they do sell silver lace polish chicks. The feathers are coming in lighter than her baby fuzz. But my order was for blue cochin pullets.![]()
AV Hatchery in California. Won’t order from there again I ordered 12 blue Cochin pullets. Their site does say that they do dropship when I got them. I am thankful that I have a good relationship with our mail carrier because I had told her that I hadn’t received any shipping information but I was expecting chicks lo and behold the next morning she gave me a call from the post office and said they’re here, luckily I had everything set up already. I just turned on the heat lamp and went directly to the post office. Two chicks were like mystery girl, 10 Cochins, one mystery girl and one cochin and we’re very tiny and I worked for 48 hours up every two hours, doing everything this forum suggest to try and keep them alive and they died anyway , when I called the company to tell them that I had to bare legged chicks, their response was that sometimes Cochins don’t have feathers on their legsWhere did you order them from?

I have only had Cochins or Brahmas for years, so I know that’s not true.
https://meyerhatchery.com/products/Blue-BB-Polish-Day-Old-Chicks-p193643188Thanks could be. She definitely was closer to the coloring of the day old chic pic. Time will tell. But I am thinking she is a Polish chick. I’ve named her Maxima…just keeping my fingers crossedI forgot to follow up on your other thread but this is an unusual chick. It has a vaulted skull evident in head and nostril shape. This rules out breeds without profuse cresting. This trait is seen in Polish, Houdans, Crevecoeurs, Sultans, some Silkies, and other much less common breeds. I also looked on AV's site and they don't give a direct list of hatcheries they drop ship from. Meyer Hatchery carried Blue Polish and is practically the only hatchery carrying them and is also quite large. It's the only variety that makes sense for this down as well. Update as it feathers out but I suspect you have a Blue Polish from Meyerhttps://meyerhatchery.com/products/Blue-BB-Polish-Day-Old-Chicks-p193643188
