Mystery chick dumped at the shelter

It's difficult to know what is going on with this chick, but it wasn't treated well. Malnutrition and feather mites or lice are strong probabilities. It could also have skin problems. Hopefully it will regrow feathers in the bald patches.

I wouldn't assume it is a pullet just yet. Malnutrition often delays the onset of secondary sex characteristics in chickens.

Update on feather development after two weeks of eating a proper diet. Comb/waddle development and size of legs has me leaning towards roo. Feather colors and single comb makes me think perhaps a Brahma mix. Thoughts?

Brahma's have pea combs. Cochins have single combs. I do believe it's a Cochin/Cochin mix.

I agree, he's at least a Cochin mix if not pure. He looks like a Splash Cochin to my eye.
