We got this girl as part of a rare breed assortment.
The breeds that are included in this assortment that are chipmunks as chicks are the following:
Welsummer, Dark Cornish, Barnevelder, Speckled Sussex, EE, Partridge Penedesenca, and Cream Legbar.

This chick has BRIGHT orange legs and a single comb. Now at 5 weeks she is getting a really light stripe of feathers across her wings.

Here it is at a day old

A week or two

And now at 5 weeks old

Your best bet as to what breed is to wait another 6 weeks and take new pics and post them. It's really difficult to determine breed right now since chipmunk chicks of different breeds are so similar at this stage. I thought it looked like a Dark Cornish myself but that's just a guess.

I'll keep watching. I'm leaning toward welsummer or penedesca. But who knows. I don't think sussex just because others I've seen at this age are starting to get their spots and have a lighter chest.

I have not seen a chick like that before but I agree with you, probably not a sussex.

Welsummer, I think this may be it
Dark Cornish, not this, they have pea combs
Barnevelder, chicks look much darker than yours.....

th

Speckled Sussex, not this, they have white legs
EE, not this, no EE characteristics
Partridge Penedesenca, not this, wrong leg color

and Cream Legbar this is my second guess. Chick could fit, I just don't think it's feathering in the correct color. The juvenile plumage looks like a partridge-ish/wild type---whatever you call the Wellie ladies.

Keep us updated as she feathers out?
