Mystery chickens!

Nice birds!
For the past 3 years, a lady up the road from us has been dumping her roosters here. It's really strange.... A few times it's been while we are gone. I have caught her though, my dogs bark at everything. She made the excuse that she stopped by to purchase eggs . My daughter says "no momma, she was dumping chickens behind the bushes!" The last time she had her teenage daughters dump them, I talked with them and said it wasn't necessary for them to be so sneaky and that we would take their unwanted roosters. We have gotten quite a few nice roos from them!!

Wow- that's messed up.

The black one laid a pink egg this morning.

Probably some sort of a mix, then. The comb had made me suspect an Easter Egger or Olive egger, but the egg color pretty much rules that out (unless it's one of the small number of Easter Eggers that lay not-blue and not-green eggs. The descriptions usually warn that a few could do that.)

Regardless of what she is, you've got a pretty group of chickens there!

Turns out you were right. My brother got the chickens for free and didn't want me to chastise him for getting more chickens. *facepalm* We still need to ID their breeds so I'll be posting pics later :)
:gig I would love it if someone visited and put new chickens in my quarantine coop.

Your black birds looks like it has kind of a rose comb, Black Wyandotte maybe?

I hadn't thought of rose comb--I was thinking it might be a pea comb. Good point, and the leg color looks right too.

I think pink eggs usually come from chickens that are "supposed" to lay brown eggs, so that would match, too.
