Hi,
I'm new to raising chickens and I'm having a problem with one of my birds. She's about 2 months old and she can't walk. It also looks like she has gape worm (from what I've been reading). She was doing fine until last week. I let the birds out in the run in the morning and she came out with the rest of them. Later on in the day I noticed her just sitting down and the other chickens were pecking at her. I went into the run to make her get yo and she didn't. Do I took her inside to try and figure out what is wrong.

She eats and drinks as long as the food's right in front of her. She looks alert. I don't know what's wrong.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Maria

Can't walk or won't walk, let's see which it is. Try standing her up on a flat surface. What happens?

Can you get her to stand up?

Does she slowly lower herself into a sitting position or do her legs collapse from under her?

Can she stand without showing signs of having trouble balancing or is she wobbly, sticking a wing out for balance?

Try putting her on a perch. Do her feet curl around the perch or do they refuse to uncurl to grab the perch?

Look at her feet and legs. Scales should be smooth and flush. Do you see any crustiness and separation of the scales from the legs?

Look for any greenish bruising on the legs and toes and the webbing between the toes. Any swelling? Does she peck at a foot or hold it up under her belly when standing?

What is she doing that makes you think she might have gape worm? What does her crop feel like? Any sauerkraut odor from her breath? What does her poop look like?

Can you post some photos (including poop) or a video of her? Upload video to youtube and provide a link.
What is she doing that makes you think Gapeworm - does she cough, sneeze, have mucous inside the beak, mucous from the nostrils, facial or eye swelling with discharge/bubbles, shaking the head, difficulty breathing?
What do you feed, including treats?
Was she vaccinated for Marek's?
Any swelling of the joints, feet, legs?

I can't get her to stand up at all. If I left her to standing position she just flips back down. I just noticed that sometimes she leans to the right when sitting.
Her scales look ok no bruising on her legs or feet. But she looks like she has a scab on her back bone.
I though it might be gapeworm because every now and then it looks like she's panting. The temperature in the house is about 75 degrees. I've included some pictures. I have a video but don't know how to upload it.

For video, upload it to youtube and provide us a link. Most of us do not use facebook.

it looks like the injury on the back is healing up, you can still put a little triple antibiotic ointment or Vetericyn on that if you wish.
What do you feed?
I would probably start out with getting some vitamins into her. Vitamin E (400IU) and 1/4 B-Complex daily. Do what you can to keep her hydrated.

Did you put her in that slick tub for photo taking or is that what she is staying in? If that's what you are keeping her in, then I would put some shelf liner in there to help her get her footing.

I just put her in the tub for photos. I have sawher Iin a doggie play pen a video on YouTube that said to try poly vi sol vitamins so put that in her water.

What I meant to say was I have her in a doggie playpen and I saw a video on YouTube that said to try poly vi sol. That's what happens when I use my phone without my glasses. Lol

You can try Poly Vi Sol without iron is you have that on hand.
I would also check her crop first thing in the morning before she eats/drinks.

I hope that she is just distressed over some type of injury and recovers soon.

I checked her crop this morning. And it seemed empty
