If you have a candler you can tell right away - Duck eggs when lit tend to have a spiraling shadow or whorl around the shell. Chicken eggs do not.

I bought 6 silkies from there about 8 weeks ago. Three are roos, three are pullets. Some are walnut, single, & rose combed.

I got six straight run from TSC six weeks ago one BR two BA one silkie one OEGB and one Sebright. All pullet. The girl was so helpful trying to get me all girls.

I bought 4 straight run silkies yesterday from tractor supply and hopefully they are all hens.

I hope your luck is better than ours. Out of 6 silkies we got 6 roosters. I finally rehomed them all. I miss those white fluff balls. Maybe one day, we’ll try again.

Our TSC store knows nothing about sexing chicks. I got one rooster brahma out of the pullet pen of light brahma chicks, which I don't mind.

I use my phone flashlight that I use for candling. I can do that in a bit.

If it is a duck egg, it will indeed an extra week of incubation and higher humidity.

TSC does not sex chicks. They are sexed by the hatchery that provides them to TSC.
