Birthday June 8th (so almost 3 months old.)

Came from a mixed group of supposedly pure bred eggs. Other chicks that have come from that group have been a Dominic, a Buff Orp, a Lav Orp, 2 zombies, a likely imperfect Ayam Cemani (2 small spots of not black. I keep meaning to checks its tongue,) and a couple of mysteries that I am waiting but I think they might be black Orpingtons. Not in contact with the seller (they welched on a trade, so that's by my choice.)

It's possible that it is not pure bred (absolutely fine,) but all signs from the other hatch mates point to it being one that I just cannot identify (so far.)

It was all black til maybe around 2 months and then started getting increasingly brown, and then patterned. There is a slight edge of iridescent dark green you can barely see in pictures on the feathers.

I spend a lot of time looking at chickens, and patterns so it gets less and less common for me to not at least have an idea of what direction to look in. Based on body shape, it looks a lot like the Orpington hatch mates, from far off looks very round.

Any help appreciated. It's probably something very obvious.

Yeah, if it wasn't for the fact that she started black and is still mostly black I'd think some weird initial feathering for partridge Orpington. But those are brown chicks, not black.

Definitely a mystery. I downsized my chicks in a trade, and specifically kept this one because even though the other chicks were friendlier, I have to see how this one grows up, to see what it likely is (if it's even pure and not a BYM, like some rooster jumped a fence.)
