Hey y’all.
Thought I’d check here to see what folks think and to see if anyone has any ideas what’s going on with my girl (4 years old)?
She’s been to the vet twice now and shows no parasites, no mites or ticks, etc, no elevated temp, and the vet doesn’t seem that concerned & thinks I should wait it out for now.
She is exhibiting the following symptoms:
- the head movement shown in the attached video.
- diarrhea (it’s getting a little firmer, but is also still occasionally greenish).
- Reduced appetite (but still eating)
- lethargy/ not interested in moving around much (but is still able, she is not paralyzed. she gets up about every 45 minutes or so & stretches her wings out and stretches each of her legs out and shakes and preens herself for a little bit before going back to resting).
Treatment:
She is on an anti-inflammatory and has been on an antibiotic for about five days – they set her up for 14 days of antibiotic.
She’s on a Vit E supplement, a tiny pinch of selenium daily, nutridrench, and an electrolyte multivitamin that also has a calcium boost.
She is showing improvement, but it’s very slow.
Positives/progress
• she will still eat and drink - needs a little encouragement.
• she can move around, but isn’t very interested in it at all.
• she’s always been my hen that crows in the AM, and she hasn’t done it in about 10 days, but I woke up this morning to her crowing.
• she can follow my finger with her eyes and she can react appropriately to my hand approaching her face, etc.
• she can reset herself if she gets off-balance.
• She chirps and stands up every time I come into the room.
Any thoughts?
Thanks ahead of time for your ideas and thoughts.
