Hello all!
I ordered several heritage breeds from Sand Hill Preservation Center and received my chicks and ducklings about a month ago. Now that they're feathering out, I've run into a problem; five of these babies look very different from the breeds I ordered!
The breeds included on the shipment info sheet listed Barnevelder, Blue Copper Marans, Creme Brabanter, Blue Jersey Giant, Iowa Blue, and Spangled Russian Orloff. One pullet I know is a substitute, a Buff Chantecler, so perhaps these guys are subs as well... or maybe a mix up when collecting the eggs for hatching, or a cross?
At first I thought they were my Creme Brabanters, but they're feathering out white instead of the tan and gold of the Cremes.
I checked the breed list on Sandhill's website again, and I think they might be Polish (but they have a small area of grey behind they're crests, so I'm not entirely sure they're the White Polish...)
I'm very sorry for the picture quality, these were taken on my old phone when I let them out to forage, and they just wouldn't stand still long enough to get a very clear shot.
Any input is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
