Mites. The mites are always there, but when they are ill, or stressed or malnourished, the immune system gets depleted, and the mites proliferate and cause hair loss, and itching. They scratch, and irritate the skin, which causes bacterial infection, which makes them ill. A vicious circle, until some end up completely bald, like the one in the picture.Thank you for that information! That's so sad they get mange so often. What causes it?
