N.E. Chickenstock 2011!!!!!! Who's up for it??

they'reHISchickens :

So Steph, concentrate on the happy stuff... tell us about your auction find! I'm assuming you hit the Kempton sale!

Ahh yes... The great and wonderful Kempton sale!! We look forward to it every spring, and being only 5 minutes from there, how can we not go?? They had 2 incubators there which I got for 250 a piece! They have automatic turners, with the humidity system and everything. Both have an electronic thermostat with a back up wafer, and the owner has all kinds of extra goodies for me! Egg trays from quail all the way up to ostrich eggs, extra motors, thermostats, extra chicken egg trays... They also work perfectly! Have had them running since the auction, and the temp has remained totally steady

Right now I have a batch of test eggs in, so we'll see how things go!

Oh poo... DH wanted to go to the Kempton sale, but we decided not to go

We are "thinking" about getting a bigger 'bator, but I think it's probably good that we didn't go. Who knows what we would've come home with.

Anybody ever go to the small animal auction at Renninger's in Haven? It's only 2 minutes from my house. They had 40 EE chicks, but I lost out on that bid. The first batch of 10 EE chicks sold for 65 cents/piece. I figured they'd get cheaper, but they got more expensive. The box I bid on went up to $2.30/each but then I stopped bidding on them. I did get 8 RIR chicks for 50 cents/piece, but there are 2 or 3 chicks that don't look like RIRs!!!

BTW, I do see the new drooly smiley! LOL

only 16 hrs and 15 min to the chicken stock.

we drove 10 to get some chickens, what's 6 more
