So can we do chicken socials now? monthly get togethers??

I get to see my rabbit friends at shows way more than I get to see chicken people. Although lots of us do both! Funny how I now have rabbits (5 breeds) chickens (3 Breeds) ducks (1 breed, ducklings don't count unless you keep them!) and Quail (2 breeds) Shoot, I forgot, I have Bantam cochin too, well, those don't count as a breed, since I have the LF version. Oh, and Bantam polish... Okay, I have 5 breeds of chickens now.

I *really* wanted to get pigs this year. Red Wattles. But I have this issue with things staying where I put them, and the idea of chasing a 600 pound sow around didn't sound like much fun. Plus, I drive a PT Cruiser. The Time people had to get a pic of me in the back of it, I think everyone is always surprised at how much fits in a PT Cruiser!

Thank goodness it hadn't been raining that bad or I might have slid off the road there. I had to go BACK the same way, since I only had the directions Googlemaps had given me, and I figured i would get horribly lost the other way! It was less scary during the daytime though, LOL

Bloomin - I haven't told my folks how many birds I brough home either - or about the rats!

Dawn, we were glad to have you! Good thing you showed up when you did - we were about to leave. I'm definitely staying there next year! Wish I had known about your Red Wattle desire! That's the breed I want, too! And the sows can get way bigger than 600 lbs., BTW. I like the boars - around 1000 lbs. and six feet long.
What is wrong with us?

If we did this more often I'd be bankrupt, my parents would throw me out, and I'd be on Animal Cops as one of those animal hoarders because I have no control!

Oh noes, LOL You sold my eggies out from under me???

Don't worry, it happens! It was crazy there at the end! I had the slip in my pocket, I should have put it on them or something for ya! You did a great job!
celebrate.gif

I think we needed a whole table JUST for the eggs! Maybe do it with sheets of paper for each carton? Then we could all fight and try to outbid each other!
gig.gif
Maybe add some birds to it next year? That would be cool too...

Who won the incubator? I was looking thru the EggCartons.com catalog and saw it, I was wondering what kind of thermostat it had, if it was the wafer kind or the better kind? Fire it up and let us all know how it works!

Don't feel bad about tossing out the still good eggs! (Been there, done that!) At least *you* didn't toss out a still live bunny!
ep.gif
The doe had scattered her week old litter, and I swear, I pulled it out and checked it, it was cold, not moving and dead. I put the box on a table in the sun while I went inside to save the one that WAS alive. Later when I went back to clean the box out, here is this bunny squirming around!
ep.gif
Which is why I almost always bring the *dead* ones inside to warm them up, because sometimes, they are just pretending to be dead! Or they're bunny zombies...

How is the little Call baby now? I so want Call ducks...

I think I tossed the last batch of duck eggs out early. I would have done the same with the ones in there now if I hadn't gone back and looked up how long they took!
