I found one of my chickens with her nail caught in the coop door hanging upside down. She was bleeding from one side of the nail bed - it looks broken away from the bed under the skin. I cleaned it and sprayed some wound spray then wrapped it in gauze and tape.

This happened Tuesday. Ive been checking the nail each day and decide to wrap it because it’s at a weird angle and figure it’ll open the wound and start to bleed again once she starts scratching the ground. She’s been laying each day but today her egg was on the poop board and soft shell. Is this connected with her injury? She had a slight limp this morning coming from the coop as well.

Pink box in the first picture shows where nail is loose from the toe in that side.
I’m a newbie to chicken raising so any advice is appreciated

Can't determine much from your photos. The one good photo you've obscured with the colored squares. You need to determine the extent to which the nail is detached from the nail bed. If it's mostly still attached, it will heal on its own.

However, if the nail is loose, mostly just hanging by a "thread", you will need to remove it as it's causing a lot of pain. It could detach on its own, which is usually what happens with an injury like this, but it will hurt a lot until it does. The longer a chicken lives, the more nails they lose. They still function just fine.

Yes, she's in pain. Pain causes a lot of stress, and stress affects egg laying and egg quality. You need to resolve this.

Nail injuries can be very painful for a week or so. I usually do ‘t treat them. But you could soak the feet daily in warm Epsom salts or a little Betadine water. I probably would not wrap the toe, but let her limit her activity herself. The soft egg may be just a coincidence. It might be good to give her a human calcium citrate tablet with d once a day for 7 days, to see if the shells get hard. Here is a good buy:

Thank you. From what I can tell I’d say the nail is more than half way still attached. I’ll remove the bandage and let her heal on her own.
